Maria Guadalupe Mendonca Walsh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the hospital after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and lymphoma. Born on September 26, 1952, in the picturesque town of Terra de Conde Graciosa, Acores, Maria was the daughter of Francisco and Jovina Mendonca. Maria's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family and the deep love she held for her children and grandchildren. She is predeceased in memory by her daughters, Maria (Lupe) Winchester, Jennifer Matias, Nicole Matias, and her sons, Helder Matias and Dennis DJ Walsh. Her legacy continues through her surviving daughters and sons, as well as her two treasured grandchildren Tre and Colt Winchester, who brought immense joy and light to her life. Throughout her years, Maria was known for her spirit, kindness, and the warmth she extended to everyone she encountered. Her home was a sanctuary of love, filled with food laughter, where family and friends gathered to create memories that will be cherished forever. Maria's family has chosen to honor her life with a private funeral ceremony. In lieu of flowers, they kindly request that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Research Association, located in Saint Clair Shores, MI. Reflecting her hope for a future without the struggles of Alzheimer's. In these words shared by her family, "Forever in our hearts," we are reminded of the indelible mark Maria left on all who knew her. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind.
