In loving memory of Maria Berta Suarez, whose heart was as vast as the Texas skies under which she was born, we honor her life and the indelible mark she left upon our world. Maria's journey began on March 1, 2025, in the warm and vibrant city of El Paso, Texas, where she was welcomed by her devoted parents, Miguel T. Najera and Esperanza Najera. Her journey on this earth concluded peacefully at her home on May 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Maria's life was a tapestry woven with threads of dedication, perseverance, and an unyielding spirit. She was a proud alumna of Austin High School, Class of 1963, and thereafter pursued higher education with fervor, earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees. Her academic accomplishments were a testament to her commitment to learning and personal growth.
For 44 remarkable years, Maria served as a Supervisor for the Instructional Service Center at El Paso Community College. Her career was a testament to her deep commitment to education and mentorship. Her office was a beacon of guidance and support, where students found not only academic assistance but also a mentor who believed in their potential. Maria's leadership was characterized by her ability to create high-quality communication services for faculty, staff, students, and the wider community. Her legacy at the college is etched in the hearts of those she inspired and guided.
Maria was a woman of many passions. Her love for sewing, baking, and dancing brought joy to those around her, while her avid reading and gorgeous penmanship added a touch of elegance to every note and letter she penned. She was also a gifted writer, crafting poems and short stories that reflected the depths of her soul. Maria's love knew no bounds, and she cared for everyone without expectation, offering unconditional love with an open heart. Her faith and trust in God were the foundation upon which she built the beautiful life she leaves behind.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sabino Enrique Suarez, and now joins him in eternal peace. Her strength and persistence were hallmarks of her character; she made everyone feel welcomed and valued, offering generosity without seeking anything in return. Her radiant smile and kind words were a balm to all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate Maria's life will be held on May 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring her memory. In this time of remembrance, the family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Aunt Lily Najera, Ofelia Samples, Michael Najera, and Aalya for their unwavering support and love in caring for Maria during the past few years.
