It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Marguerite Vogel, who left this world on March 29, 2026. Born on August 6, 1939, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Marge, as she was lovingly known, passed away after a day filled with the warmth of family and the sharing of cherished stories. Her departure from this life marks the end of a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Marge was the beloved daughter of Reuben and Lucille Guenther, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. She is now reunited in everlasting peace with her devoted husband, William Vogel, who predeceased her. Their love story began at their respective universities in Michigan, culminating in a joyful marriage on September 6, 1958. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, welcoming their first son, Randy, in Michigan before moving to San Diego, where their second son, Ron, was born. Marge's educational journey was marked by perseverance and a passion for learning. A graduate of Pioneer High School, she attended Eastern Michigan University and earned her teaching degree from San Diego State University, followed by a master's degree from the University of San Diego. Her career in education was spent enriching the lives of students at the San Diego Unified School District and San Diego City College, before she turned her talents to managing Bilmar properties. Her commitment to education extended beyond her professional life. As a long-time member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), she was a staunch advocate for women's education, supporting their endeavors through scholarships and grants. This cause resonated deeply with Marge, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of education. Marge's life was defined by her love for her family and her zest for life. She was a devoted mother to Randy and Ronald. She was stellar mother-in-law to Rhonda and Elizabeth Vogel, and a cherished grandmother to Marcus, (Rebecca), and Victoria Bonahoom (Don) affectionately known as "the handsome big guy." Her great-grandchildren June Vogel, Barrett and Eloise Bonahoom who brought her immense joy and pride. She also leaves behind her loving brother, Robert Guenther, and her sister Mary (Jim) Lutz, and her loving longer term companion Dick Gray.. Her hobbies brought her joy and created cherished memories with those she loved. Marge was an enthusiastic skier, an avid traveler, and an expert bridge player. She was known for her infectious laughter, which could light up any room. Her determination, strong will, and loving heart were qualities that endeared her to many. Though she could be stubborn at times, especially in her later years, her generosity and kindness never wavered. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Silverado Escondido for the exceptional loving care they provided to Marge. Their dedication was a true blessing, ensuring her safety and happiness in her final years. A service to honor and celebrate Marge's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM at The Point. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association or the local chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), in memory of Marge's enduring commitment to education and her fight against Alzheimer's. Marge's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy of love, laughter, and learning will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
