Margie Osborne Erickson, a beacon of warmth and kindness, peacefully departed this world on May 15, 2026, at the age of 85, enveloped in the love of her family at her home. Her life's journey began on February 4, 1941, in Murray, Utah, where she was born to Leon and Lorna Osborne. Margie was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose legacy of love and compassion will forever be cherished.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Lorna, and her brother Arnold, whose memories she carried with her throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Dave Erickson, with whom she shared a life of unwavering partnership and love, having married on April 11, 1974, in San Francisco, California. Together, Margie and Dave built a family that became the center of her universe.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Rowdy Dow (Kelli), David Erickson, Tracy Jorgensen, Erin Alcaraz (Marco), and Courtney Anderson (Randy), who will continue to honor her memory. Margie was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and delighted in the joy brought by her seven great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
A dedicated educator and passionate social worker, Margie graduated from Jordan High School in 1959 and pursued higher education with a fervent zeal. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965, followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in 1983. Margie's career as an English and Yearbook teacher at Jordan and Hillcrest High Schools touched countless young lives. Her subsequent work with Valley Mental Health and IHC as a Clinical Social Worker further demonstrated her unwavering commitment to helping others.
Margie was a woman of many talents and interests. She found immense joy in knitting and tending to her garden, where she nurtured life with the same care she gave to those she loved. Above all, Margie cherished time spent with her family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and she was a source of comfort and strength to everyone she met. Margie’s gentle spirit and selfless nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family invites those who knew and loved Margie to join them in celebrating her life at a memorial service, details of which will be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Margie’s name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong dedication to helping others.
