Margaruite Jacquline Huntley

December 12, 1940 — June 11, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Margaruite Jacquline Huntley, who left this world on June 11, 2026, just one day shy of her 86th birthday. Born on December 12, 1940, in the beautiful city of Vancouver, B.C., Margaruite lived a life rich with love, friendship, and unwavering kindness. Margaruite was the cherished daughter of Albert and Alice Foster. Growing up in a loving family, she learned early on the importance of compassion and community, values she carried with her throughout her life. In 1960, she married her beloved Herbert William Huntley, beginning a partnership that would last until his passing. Together, they shared many joys and endured life's trials, including the heartbreaking loss of their sons, John and Alan William Huntley, who left this world too soon. Margaruite was a devoted mother and is survived by her loving son, Brian Huntley, and her cherished daughter-in-law, Angela Huntley. She took immense pride in her family, always nurturing them with her gentle spirit and wise counsel. Her career began in the family drug store, a place filled with the warmth of community and service, before she dedicated 17 years to Safeway Canada. In the 1990s, she sought further training to provide home support, reflecting her innate desire to help others. Outside of her professional life, Margaruite was known for her adventurous spirit and zest for life. She found great joy in running her own pleasure craft, often seen navigating the waters around Crescent Beach Marina on her beloved boat, the Willowjack. Whether out at sea or on land, she cultivated numerous friendships, each one treasured deeply in her heart. Margaruite's life was a testament to the power of love and resilience. Even as she bravely faced a long battle with congestive heart failure, she remained a beacon of strength and positivity to all who knew her. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Margaruite's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, in gratitude for the compassionate care and support they provide. Contributions can be sent to 3506-27th Ave, Vernon, B.C. V1T9M4. Margaruite Jacquline Huntley leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and enduring friendships. She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.
