Margarita Suarez Memendez
April 21, 1939 — July 4, 2026
In loving memory, we celebrate the extraordinary life of Margarita Suarez Menendez, who peacefully departed this world on July 4, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on April 21, 1939, in the vibrant city of La Habana, Cuba, Margarita was the cherished daughter of Aurelio Suarez and Flora Gadea. Her life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and joy, woven with the threads of her rich heritage and boundless spirit.
Margarita was united in marriage with the love of her life, Jorge Jesus Menendez, on June 29, 1957, in La Vibora, La Habana. They shared a life filled with devotion and happiness until Jorge's passing on December 19, 2019. Together, they created a beautiful family, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of those who knew them.
In 1983, Margarita embarked on a new chapter, leaving Cuba for San Jose, Costa Rica, before settling in Buffalo, NY. Later that year, she moved to Houston, TX, and eventually made her home in Katy, TX, in 2003. In 2019, she moved to Seabrook, TX, to live with her son and his family, where she spent her final years surrounded by the warmth and affection of her loved ones.
Margarita's professional life was marked by her nurturing spirit and innate ability to soothe and care for children. She dedicated many years to working in the nursery of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Katy, where her gentle touch and loving care were a comfort to countless families. Her talent for calming even the most distressed babies was renowned, and she treated each child as her own, earning the trust and admiration of parents throughout the community.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. A creative soul, Margarita found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially shopping. She delighted in spending hours at the Katy Mills Mall, just a stone's throw from her home, where she indulged in window shopping and finding treasures for her family, particularly her cherished grandchildren. Christmas and 3 Kings Day were special occasions filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family gatherings at Grandma's house. Her heart was filled with joy with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Trevi, who brought an additional sparkle to her days.
Margarita leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her son, George A. Menendez, and his wife, Carolina S. Menendez; her daughter, Margarita Menendez, and her husband, Raj Sharma. She was the adored grandmother of Carol J. Isley and her husband, Bradley Isley; Cosette Menendez; Aidan N. Sharma; and Ryan A. Sharma. Her great-granddaughter, Trevi J. Isley, will grow up with stories of her great-grandmother's love and kindness.
A service to honor Margarita's life will be held on July 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, where she spent so many cherished years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Margarita's generous and giving spirit.
Margarita Suarez Menendez will be remembered for her unwavering love, her gentle heart, and the legacy of kindness she bestowed upon all who were fortunate enough to know her.
