Margarita Adorno Luciano

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude, we honor the life of Margarita Adorno Luciano, who passed away peacefully on July 13, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 12, 1938, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Margarita was a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering faith throughout her 88 years of life. Raised by her devoted grandmother, Martina Hernandez, and her father, Victorio Adorno, Margarita embraced life with resilience and grace. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, father, husband Pedro L. Luciano, son Joseph Rodriguez, and son-in-law Edwin Torres. Her legacy lives on through her cherished daughters, Evelyn Canada and Olga Torres, her grandchildren Joe Colon, Michelle Torres Smith and Reginald, Jr., and Natasha Torres Serrano, her great-grandchildren Tiffany Colon, Ava Colon, and Joshua Torres Serrano, and her great-great-granddaughter, Leilah Colon. Margarita's extended family, including Janai, Amanda, Kenai, Cheyenne, Amora, Eva, Nancy, Iris, Lourdes, Lorraine, Brenda, Maria, Mexica, Malyla, and Rose, were also dear to her heart. Margarita was educated in the Puerto Rican school system and built a fulfilling career first at the Stetson Hat Factory and later as a School Community Coordinator at the John Moffett School within the School District of Philadelphia. Her work ethic and dedication were mirrored in her personal life, where her genuine love for people and her community shone brightly. In 1964, Margarita was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness, marking the beginning of 62 years of faithful service. She studied with Pia Espinosa in Philadelphia, PA, and attended the Pioneer Service School in 1985, dedicating her life to sharing her faith and the promises of Jehovah and Jesus with everyone she met. Her journey led her to marry Pedro L. Luciano on June 22, 1982, in Brooklyn, New York, later they eventually settled in Guánica, Puerto Rico. Margarita's home was a haven of hospitality, filled with the warmth of her famous pasteles and the rhythm of salsa music. Her passions for cooking, dancing, and traveling led her to explore faraway places such as Peru, Spain, and Hawaii, where she embraced new cultures and forged lifelong friendships. Known for her contagious laughter, Margarita's generosity and kindness touched countless lives. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, offering encouragement and love to all she encountered. Even in her final days, she expressed gratitude to the doctors and nurses who cared for her. A service to celebrate Margarita's life will be held on August 1, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 4450 Oakland Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
