Margaret (Peggy) L English, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, with her beloved husband by her side. Born on January 17, 1942, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Peggy's life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and love. Peggy was the cherished daughter of Edward and Alice Curley and was predeceased by her parents and her youngest brother, Steven. She is survived by her devoted husband, Alden English, and her loving daughter, Karin (English) Ashman, along with her husband, Mark Ashman. Peggy's legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Zachary, Maddy, and Erika Ashman, and her great-grandchild, Audrey Ashman. Her siblings, Judy Begley, Barbara Cosgrove, and her husband Bob, Janice Pearlman and her husband Ed, and her brother Edward Curley and his wife Shirley, also carry forward her memory. Peggy's extended family includes her stepchildren, Lisa Phipps, Lauren Cauwels, Linda Thompson, and Robert English. Peggy's professional journey was marked by her unwavering dedication to nursing, a career that spanned over four decades. She began her career in emergency medicine and continued to serve in various capacities including school nursing, nursing home care, and at the Concord State Reformatory. Her commitment to excellence in nursing led her to pursue an advanced RN degree from Fitchburg State College, where she graduated with honors at the age of forty-seven. Her personal life was filled with joy and exploration. Peggy had a passion for travel and cherished visits to the beach, where she found peace and inspiration. She was an avid reader and took great delight in spending time with her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew her. Peggy's warmth and kindness were evident to everyone she encountered. Her loving, accepting, compassionate, and caring nature touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Emerson Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness during Peggy's final months. They also wish to express their appreciation to friends and neighbors for their unwavering support during this difficult time. In keeping with Peggy's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy's memory may be made to the Emerson Health Care Foundation, an organization dear to her heart. Peggy's legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in the hearts and lives of those she touched.
