Margaret MacGregor (nee Williams)

August 8, 1939 — April 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret MacGregor (nee Williams) on April 21, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on August 8, 1939, in Cheadle, Manchester, England, Margaret was a beacon of grace and strength, whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Norman C. Williams and Kathleen Williams (nee Lonergan). She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ross MacGregor, with whom she shared a beautiful life from their marriage in 1960 until his passing in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Williams and Norman A. Williams, who remained close to her heart throughout her life. After graduating from General Amherst High School in 1956, Margaret served her country with pride as a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Stationed at RCAF Station Clinton, she trained as a photographic technician, forging lifelong friendships and memories during her service from 1956 to 1957. Margaret's professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. She worked in various roles, including as a waitress at the Essex Golf and Country Club and as a quality control inspector at Charles Laue automotive parts manufacturer in LaSalle. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her community. Margaret volunteered as the president of the Parents Committee at Malden Public School and was a long-time volunteer for Welcome Wagon in the Amherstburg area. She also organized and ran the ladies dart league at the AMA Sportsmen's Association in Amherstburg, where her leadership and camaraderie left a lasting impact. Margaret's life was enriched by her passions and hobbies, which included reading, gardening, walking her beloved dogs, traveling, and crafting. Her garden was a sanctuary, her books a portal to other worlds, and her handiwork a reflection of her creativity and care. Known for her welcoming spirit, Margaret had a quick wit and humor inherited from her father, which endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth and kindness were constants in a world that often felt transient and uncertain. Margaret is survived by her devoted children, Mike (Marilyn) and Roger (Kelly), who cherished her guidance and love. Her legacy lives on in her five adoring grandchildren—Katherine, Graham, Andrew, Megan, and Grace—each of whom carries forward her values of love, compassion, and integrity. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Margaret’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charitable organization of choice, in memory of Margaret’s enduring spirit and generosity. Margaret MacGregor will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and volunteer who touched the lives of many. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to those who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her.
