August 2, 1952 — April 4, 2026

It is with profound sadness yet immense gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Margaret Hyacinth Blackman, who departed this world on April 4, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on August 2, 1952, in Georgetown, Guyana, Margaret was a beacon of resilience and grace, qualities that shone brightly as she courageously battled various health challenges with unwavering strength. Margaret was the cherished daughter of Sylvian Wilson and Cicely Marshall. She was a loving wife to her devoted husband, Kenneth Blackman, with whom she shared over 40 treasured years of marriage, having wed in 1986. Together, they built a legacy of love and family that includes their children Marcia, Dexter, and Dwayne, and a beautiful lineage of nine grandchildren—Kester, Lilian, Tafadzwa, Ethan, Esther, Sanaya, Saraiya, Jaydn, and Dwayne Junior—and one great-grandchild, each a testament to the enduring spirit and values she instilled. A proud graduate of the Carnegie School of Home Economics in Georgetown, Margaret pursued a career as a caterer, where her culinary talents took her across the globe to places such as Suriname, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. Her work was not just a profession but a passion, one that allowed her to touch lives with her warmth and hospitality, much like she did in her personal relationships. Margaret's life extended beyond professional achievements. She was an active member of the Caribbean American Association of Solivita (CARAMVITA), a community in which she found fellowship and joy. Known for her honesty, reliability, and sincerity, Margaret was plainspoken, yet her words were ever kind and considerate. She held a keen interest in current affairs and politics, often immersing herself in the latest happenings with a critical eye, her go-to being MSNBC. Her disdain for racism and injustice was well-known to those who loved her, and she never shied away from standing up for what she believed in. Her love for fishing and traveling was a testament to her adventurous spirit. Even as end-stage renal disease and the rigors of dialysis imposed limitations, Margaret's zest for life remained undimmed. Her travels may have been curtailed, but her heart was always open to new experiences and the beauty of the world around her. Margaret leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings Jennifer, Donna, Michelle, Debra, Cherry, and Gavin, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends who cherished her deeply. Her departure leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but her legacy of love, strength, and integrity will endure in the hearts of all who knew her. A service to celebrate Margaret's extraordinary life will be held on April 10, 2026, at Osceola Memorial Gardens, located at 3175 Pleasant Hill Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746. Friends and family are invited to join in person or via livestream at https://tributestream.com/celebration-of-life-for-margaret-blackman. The Blackman family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff of Davita Poinciana Dialysis Centre for the compassionate care they provided to Margaret over the past decade. As we say goodbye to Margaret, we remember a woman whose life was a testament to courage, kindness, and unwavering love. Her memory will forever be a blessing to those who had the privilege to know her.
