Margaret Dortch

Margaret Lee Dortch, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2026. Born on September 16, 1956, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Margaret was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her. Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Rose Ella Ray and Luther Moore. She was predeceased by her mother and her beloved grandson, Ronell Dortch Jr. Her family was the center of her world, and she is survived by her devoted children Shaneaka Dortch, Ronell Dortch, Phillip Hill (Leslie Farwell), Latonja Hill, Rashunee Hill, and Jacquetta Hill-Foster (Akiba Foster). Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren Cesar Chairez, Marshawn Williams, Avonté Scott, Ajaia Scott, Jaden Williams, Onani Foster, and Anylah Flowers, as well as her adored great-grandchildren Adriel and A'anah Dortch, Cartier and Cimanii Chairez. Margaret is also survived by her loving sister, Deloris Christian (Albert Davis). Margaret spent over three decades as a dedicated machine operator at Detroit Forming Inc., where she began working in May 1986. She retired in May 2019, leaving behind not just colleagues but a second family whom she loved dearly. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by all who had the pleasure of working with her. A woman of simple pleasures, Margaret loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family and friends. She found joy in music, dancing, and watching her favorite television shows. Her laughter and vibrant spirit were infectious, and she had a unique ability to make those around her feel loved and cherished. Known for her humor and radiant smile, Margaret was a joyful presence. She encouraged everyone to find strength through prayer and face life's challenges with resilience. Her loving, caring, and humble nature, coupled with her inner strength, made her a true queen in the eyes of many. A service to celebrate Margaret's life is being held on September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Evangelistic Temple, located at 531 Benton St, Aurora, IL 60505. The family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered prayers, kind words, and support during this difficult time. Special thanks to Pastor Foster and Christ Evangelistic Temple for hosting Margaret's homegoing celebration and to Eternity Funeral Home for their care and preparation. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly thanks those who sent arrangemnets. Margaret's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be profoundly missed.
