Margaret Ann Brandt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret "Peggy" Brandt, a shining beacon of compassion and love in our lives. Born August 29, 1949 in Ames, IA. Peggy left us on September 15, 2026 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that will not soon be forgotten. Peggy grew up in Nevada, IA, graduating from Nevada High School in 1967. After high school she moved to Des Moines where she began work as a printing press operator at Central Life Insurance Company and later at The Printing Station. Peggy developed many dear friendships while working at both places, many of which she carried on with up until the time of her passing. Throughout her life, Peggy was a warm and nurturing soul, radiating love and positivity to all those around her. She was known for her tender caring nature, and she truly embodied the roles of a devoted mother and a doting grandmother, always putting family first. She had the best group of friends that she maintained though out her life and looked forward to their monthly lunch dates in which they tried out different restaurants throughout central Iowa. Her greatest accomplishment, and what she was most proud of, was being the best Mom and Grandma, anyone could ask for. Peggy is survived by her loving partner, Richard Brandt, her adored daughter, Megan Misner, and cherished grandson, Caden Misner. She also leaves behind her devoted siblings, Fran Dunshee and Dan Runneals, and caring in-laws Jeremy Misner, Jane Runneals, and Cal Dunshee. Her vibrant spirit will also be remembered by her beloved nephew and nieces, Elizabeth (Andy) Goke, David Runneals, and Emma Runneals. Peggy was predeceased in death by her dear sister, Jackie Runneals, and her loving parents, Patricia and Millard Runneals. These losses were profound, but Peggy's indomitable spirit never wavered, and she continued to spread love and kindness throughout her community. Peggy's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and altruism will continue to inspire and guide us. May she rest in the peace she so richly deserves. Peggy, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. Event details for Peggy’s celebration of life are still in development.
