Marcus "Skeet" Patterson Jr., a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away tragically on June 9, 2026, at the tender age of 22. Born on February 3, 2004, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Marcus was a vibrant soul who left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. Marcus's life, though brief, was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was the cherished son of Sharifa Monique Cole and Marcus Dawayne Patterson, who lovingly guided him throughout his journey. He was also a devoted father to his precious children, I’Mani and Tayven Patterson, who were the light of his life. Marcus's passion for music was rivaled only by his love for his family and friends. He had a gift for spreading joy and warmth, lifting spirits with his infectious smile and kind heart. Whether he was playing his PS5, spending time with his siblings—Mia, Dereona, Markali, Teosha, Samyria, Charles, Demarion, Deshawn, and Martavin—or simply sharing a moment of laughter, Marcus's presence was a beacon of happiness. He attended Northside High School in Texas, where he was known for his compassionate nature and enthusiasm for life. His love for music resonated deeply, and he often found solace and expression in its rhythms and melodies. Marcus is survived by his loving parents, Sharifa and Marcus Sr.; his dedicated partner, Ashley Johnson; his adoring children, I’Mani and Tayven; his grandparents, Suzanna Skinner, Barbra Henry Thompson, and Charles Patterson; and a large extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him profoundly. He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Gregory Anthony Cole and Ralph Thomson; great-grandfather, John Henry; aunt, Toya Patterson; and uncle, Charles Henry, who will surely welcome him with open arms. Marcus's spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His legacy of love, laughter, and light will endure, reminding us all of the beauty of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
