Marcel Frank
January 27, 1942 — May 30, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Marcel Frank, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Marcel departed this world peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by his beloved daughters, in the comforting embrace of family, at his home in Elmdale, MN.
Born on January 27, 1942, in the humble town of Bismarck, ND, Marcel was the cherished son of Christ and Veronica Frank. He grew up in a loving household, learning the values of hard work, perseverance, and family loyalty—principles that would guide him throughout his life. Marcel was predeceased by his father, Christ; his mother, Veronica; his brother, Urban; his sisters, Rita Nelson and Linda Kunkel; and his son-in-law, Corey Marsh.
Marcel met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betty" Frank, whom he affectionately called his "tomato," and they were married on May 25, 1968. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, sharing 58 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Kimberly Marsh, Tracy (Mike) Vacura, and Janet (Tony) Berg, who were the apple of his eye. Marcel’s legacy continues through his six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who brought immeasurable joy to his days.
Marcel’s life was one of service and dedication. He served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1965 to 1970, including a courageous tour in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he dedicated himself to his work and family. As a family farmer in Elmdale, MN, and later a Union Warehouse Manager at SPS Companies Inc, Marcel was known for his tireless work ethic and integrity. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Catholic Church, the VFW, and the Pipefitters Union, reflecting his commitment to community and tradition.
Those who knew Marcel will remember him as a man with an infectious sense of humor and an irresistible charm. He embodied the quintessential values of the "old school" generation—resourceful, independent, and steadfast. Marcel had an innate ability to fix anything, a skill honed from necessity during his childhood. Whether it was tending to broken machinery on the farm or repairing a grandchild’s toy, Marcel approached each task with patience and skill.
Marcel had many passions, including fishing, hunting, and collecting guns. He found joy in simple pleasures like drinking beer around a campfire, listening to concertina music, and watching reruns of "Gunsmoke." Above all, Marcel was devoted to his family; they were his pride and joy. His love for his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter was boundless, and he delighted in every moment spent in their company.
Marcel’s family will forever treasure the memories of a man who worked hard, played hard, and loved deeply. His legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his daughters, Kimberly Marsh, Tracy (Mike) Vacura, and Janet (Tony) Berg; his sister, Ramona Boisvert; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Frank; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Marcel’s family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents, siblings, and loved ones who have passed before him.
A celebration of Marcel’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable man he was and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Marcel. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved you.
