Maralyn Jeanette Patterson ( Jabs)
February 12, 1940 — February 11, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the peaceful passing of Maralyn Jeanette Patterson (née Jabs) on February 11, 2026, at the tender age of 85, just one day shy of her 86th birthday. Maralyn left this world with grace and dignity at the Campbell River Hospital, surrounded by the love of family.
Born on February 12, 1940, in the charming town of Bredenbury, Saskatchewan, Maralyn was the cherished daughter of Ludwig (Louis) and Olga Jabs (née Knute). She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her precious son Mark Allen Patterson, her dear daughter Corrine Frances Patterson, three sisters, and numerous relatives who were dear to her heart.
Maralyn shared a beautiful journey through part of her life with her husband, Harmon Clifford Patterson. Together, they built a loving home in Port Hardy, BC, where they raised their family with an abundance of love and warmth. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Lynda Roxanne Engli (Mike Engli), Shelly Anne Wilson (Steven Budd ) , and Brenda Lynn Patterson (Brian Robinson), who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Her family expanded with the joy of six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
A woman of many talents and passions, Maralyn's career was as diverse as her interests. She was a beloved figure skating coach, imparting grace and discipline to young skaters. Her work at the seafood product plant in Port Hardy reflected her dedication and strong work ethic, and she found immense joy in ending her career as a school bus driver, where her affection for children shone brightly. Maralyn had a special bond with the students she transported, even driving them to their graduation parties, celebrating their milestones with the same enthusiasm she had for life.
Maralyn was an active volunteer, contributing her time and energy to the Port Hardy Museum and was very involved with the Kidney Foundation, organizations close to her heart. Her zest for life extended to her hobbies, where she found solace and happiness in crocheting beautiful blankets, tending to her garden, and exploring beaches with her family & Friends aboard their boat. Her adventurous spirit led her to country music festivals, where she traveled with her trusty motorhome and beloved dog, often joined by her brave family who shared in her experiences.
Known for her outgoing nature and her ability to make friends wherever she went, Maralyn was never shy in expressing herself . Her family was her world . Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Marie Cheetham, a very long time close friend, for her unwavering support, Paramedics Waj & Lisa of Port Hardy for their professional care and to the compassionate staff at Campbell River Hospital for providing Maralyn with peace and comfort in her final days.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we celebrate the beautiful life she led and the love she bestowed upon us all. May her spirit continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
