It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Manuel Jose Brito Cabrera, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Manuel, who was born on August 12, 1931, in the picturesque town of Santa Ana in Nueva Esparta State, Venezuela, peacefully departed this world on May 5, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of his family at his home. Manuel's life was a testament to dedication, love, and the pursuit of knowledge. He was the cherished son of the late Manuel Jose and Paulina (née Cabrera) Brito. He is predeceased by his beloved parents and his dear sister, Ana Maria Rivera. Manuel is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Josefina Brito Sol, who was his partner in all things, sharing a life rich with love and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth through his children: Manuel Alberic Brito, who, together with his wife Jodi, brought great joy to Manuel's life; Manuel Jose Brito Sol, who, alongside his wife Yajaira, filled Manuel's heart with pride and happiness; and Maria Carolina Haug, who, with her husband Chad, showered Manuel with love and cherished moments. Manuel was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Abraham Brito, Oriana Brito, Nathan (Rebecca) Lorance, Mani Brito, Cody (Kayla) Haug, Catherine Haug, and Christian Haug, as well as seven great-grandchildren who brought immense light and joy into his later years. Manuel's pursuit of knowledge began in his youth, studying Medicine for three years in Argentina before returning to Venezuela, where he furthered his education in Law and Accounting at the esteemed Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. His intellectual curiosity was a lifelong companion, and he delighted in the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, his mind always eager to learn. His professional career was marked by dedication and excellence. Manuel served as an Accounting and Finance Manager at Citibank for over 25 years, where his colleagues knew him for his integrity and leadership. After his tenure at Citibank, Manuel embarked on a new venture with his brother-in-law, Joel Sol Moreno, as the Accounting Manager for a kitchen installation company. Even in retirement, he continued to share his wealth of knowledge as a consultant, influencing many with his wisdom and kindness. Manuel and Josefina eventually moved to the United States, where he proudly became a citizen. They settled in Plainfield, Illinois, where he lived until his passing. He was a man of great humor, always ready with a smile or a joke, and his love for life sciences and reading was infectious to those around him. A celebration of Manuel's life will be held on May 27, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Waters Edge Church in Shorewood, Illinois. Family, friends, and all whose lives Manuel touched are invited to join in honoring his memory and celebrating the remarkable life he led.
