In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Maniga Gillot, who was born on September 13, 1946, in the picturesque town of Jacmel, Haiti. Maniga passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. His journey was one of resilience, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family. Son of Talma Gillot and Oceana Colin, Maniga embraced life with vigor and determination. He found love and partnership with his beloved spouse, Jeannette Rafael, with whom he shared many cherished years. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family filled with love and laughter. Maniga was a devoted father to his daughter, Bernadette Gillot, and a proud grandfather to Andrew, Brendan, Christopher, Aris, and Nayeliz Lamousnery. He also had the joy of witnessing the next generation, leaving behind two great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. A talented tailor, Maniga's career took him from the Dominican Republic to Venezuela, and eventually to the United States. His skillful hands crafted garments with precision and care, reflecting his passion for his craft. In the United States, he expanded his talents by working in inspection control, always striving for excellence in everything he did. Maniga was a man of diverse interests. He loved to travel, embracing the world and its myriad of cultures. Keeping a tidy home was a pastime he enjoyed, as was practicing Tae Kwan Do and engaging in military bearing, disciplines that spoke to his character and determination. He will be remembered as a helpful soul, a guiding light who always knew how to solve a problem or would tirelessly research to find a solution. His family and friends knew they could rely on him, and his legacy of support and wisdom will live on in their hearts. A service to honor Maniga's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 8:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo, located at 391 Ogden St. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Maniga Gillot's memory to a charity of your choice. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
