It is with profound sadness and heartfelt reverence that we announce the passing of Magnolia Bloodworth Cherry, a cherished soul who blessed this world with her presence for 92 beautiful years. Born on September 17, 1934, in the warm embrace of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Magnolia peacefully took her leave on May 12, 2026, at her beloved home, surrounded by love. Her departure marks the end of a valiant battle with cancer, though she left this world as she lived in it—with grace, dignity, and peace. Magnolia was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest B. Cherry and Wilalou M. Cherry, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and faith that she carried throughout her life. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Johnny Cherry, with whom she shared a love story that began at the county fair in Goldsboro, NC, thanks to the thoughtful matchmaking of a dear friend, Diane Kingsley. For over 34 years, Johnny and Magnolia's love was a beacon of joy to all who knew them. Her heart was vast and filled with love for her family, including her sons, Norman, Wayne, and Johnathan Cherry, and her daughters, Patricia and Juanita Cherry, grandson Ricky L. Cherry all of whom she now joins in eternal rest. She is survived by her devoted son, Roy Cherry, and her beloved daughter, Ernestine Cherry Harley, who continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Magnolia was the proud grandmother of one grandson, Ray L. Cherry, and the adoring great-grandmother to two precious great-grandchildren, Arisyn F. Cherry, and Darren C. Wolfe who brought immense joy to her life and whom she cherished deeply. With a career spanning over four decades in child development services, Magnolia dedicated her life to nurturing young minds and hearts. Her passion for children was boundless, and her contributions to the growth and development of countless young lives will be remembered always. A pillar of her community, Magnolia was an active member of the First Assembly of God, her faith serving as her guiding light. Her commitment to service extended beyond her congregation as she generously supported numerous charities for children and community outreach programs, leaving an indelible mark on many lives. Magnolia was known for her sharp wit and infectious humor, her presence filling any room with laughter and warmth. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit—she was an avid fisher, a passionate traveler, and a dedicated collector of porcelain clowns and glass mini hens. Above all, she treasured her time spent with family and friends, often organizing reunions that brought people together and created memories to last a lifetime. Her unwavering faith in Jesus, her love for children, and her devotion to family and friends were the cornerstones of her life. She possessed a remarkable ability to find the silver lining in every situation, forever reminding those around her of the beauty in the world. In accordance with Magnolia's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Magnolia's heart, ensuring her legacy of compassion and kindness endures. Magnolia Bloodworth Cherry's life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and joy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her. As we bid her farewell, we hold her memory close, forever grateful for the time we shared and the love she gave so freely.
