Born on March 19, 1933, in the gentle town of Sardis, Mississippi, Magdalene lived a life full of love, grace, and quiet strength. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lawyer Lofton and Alma Armstrong Lofton. Her life was marked by a deep commitment to her family and community. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe Willie Pettis, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began on March 23, 1958, in Hernando, Mississippi. Together, they built a family grounded in love and resilience. Magdalene is survived by her children, Joe Ann Pettis and Joe Willie Pettis Jr., her cherished granddaughter Johona Pettis, and her precious great-grandchild, Yahri Pettis. Magdalene's educational journey led her to graduate from Batesville High School in 1956. Her talents as a seamstress were well-known and admired. She crafted clothing for family and friends, and her skills became a source of supplemental income. Her career later extended to working with Senior Services from 1992 to 2006, where her compassion and dedication touched many lives. A devoted member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for 67 years, Magdalene was a pillar of strength and faith within her congregation. She served diligently on the usher board ministry for over 50 years, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her presence was a quiet assurance, never seeking recognition but always being there when needed. In her leisure time, Magdalene delighted in the simple joys of shopping and engaging in spirited games of bingo at the Goodwill Homes Senior Center, where she cultivated friendships and explored her creativity through ceramics. Magdalene was a beacon of kindness and patience, a woman who stood in the gap for others, offering unwavering support with humility and grace. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
