Many of her former students, now grown, fondly recall the ways in which she inspired their love for reading and instilled in them a belief in their own potential. Baking homemade pies was another of Mae’s cherished pastimes, her kitchen often filled with the comforting aroma of her creations. Mae's presence was a gift, and her absence leaves a void that will be profoundly felt. A private funeral will be held to honor Mae's life and the legacy she leaves behind.
