Madelyn was surrounded by love and comfort at Glendale Nursing Home, where she had courageously faced her health challenges with grace and dignity. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all. Madelyn was born on August 25, 1942, in Schenectady, the cherished daughter of Andrew and Isabella Manilla. She carried the values instilled by her beloved parents throughout her life, embodying their spirit of generosity and warmth. Madelyn's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and service. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady, setting the foundation for a lifelong commitment to caring for others. For over 40 years, Madelyn dedicated herself to the medical field, touching countless lives with her compassion and expertise. Her career saw her thrive at Ellis Hospital and Samaritan Hospital, and she provided invaluable care as a home health aide with UpJohn Health Services. She concluded her remarkable career with heartfelt service at Ann Lee Nursing Home, where her colleagues and the residents she cared for became like family to her. Madelyn's nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life. As an active Girl Scout leader for her daughters, Carrie and Tracy, she inspired young minds and taught the importance of community, resilience, and friendship. Her heart was as vast as her interests, which included a love for drawing, playing cards—especially rummy—and collecting copper treasures. Her infectious smile and welcoming presence made every gathering brighter, and her laughter was a melody that brought joy to all around her. Madelyn was predeceased by her loving parents, Andrew and Isabella, her brother-in-laws Charles McCann and Richard Peabody, and her son-in-law, Dennis Lenz. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted daughters, Carrie (Bob) Piser and Tracy Lenz, and her treasured grandchildren, Ryan Piser, Megan Piser, Mykeighla Lenz, and Wylliam Lenz. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Ann McCann and Alberta Peabody, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to know her. A service to honor Madelyn's beautiful life will be held on April 10, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Bekkering Funeral Home, located at 1 Mohawk Ave, Scotia, NY. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Glendale Nursing Home for the love and care they provided to Madelyn in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Madelyn's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
