Bernice Lennon Clark, a beloved wife, passed away peacefully at home on August 30, 2026, after a long illness. Born on January 2, 1944, in Fairmont, North Carolina, Bernice was the cherished daughter of Teresa and John Lennon. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mattie, Sarah, and Jane, and is survived by her daughter, Teresa Lennon and her husband of 40 years, Sam Gray. Bernice's journey of love and companionship began when she met Sam in Brooklyn, New York, where they later married, building a life filled with laughter and shared dreams. She was a proud graduate of Fairmont High and Brooklyn College, where she laid the foundation for her long and successful career at the Bank of New York. For 52 years, Bernice dedicated herself to her work, retiring with the admiration and respect of colleagues who appreciated not only her professional acumen but her infectious humor and kindness. A true people person, Bernice was always ready to share a joke and brighten the day of those around her. Her warmth and wit were matched only by her generosity of spirit, which she extended to her community as a longtime member of the Flora Club. Bernice's involvement with the club was a testament to her love of nature and her commitment to fostering beauty and camaraderie among her peers. A service to celebrate Bernice's life will be held on September 4, 2026, at St Mary's Church, located at 305 Sawgrass Court. Family, friends, and all whose lives Bernice touched are invited to join in remembering her remarkable life and legacy. The Lennon family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Liz, whose support and care brought comfort during Madeline's final days.
