Mack Edward Atkinson, Jr.

April 5, 1971 — April 15, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Mack Edward "Eddie" Atkinson, Jr., a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly on April 15, 2026. Born on April 5, 1971, in Cheraw, South Carolina, Eddie's life was a testament to warmth, kindness, and an infectious joy that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Eddie was the cherished son of Mack E. Atkinson, Sr., and Ann Funderburk Atkinson, who nurtured in him a love for music and laughter that would become the soundtrack of his life. His early years in Cheraw were filled with the gentle rhythms of Southern life, a community he held close to his heart throughout his days. A proud alumnus of Cheraw High School, Class of 1989, Eddie's academic journey led him to Clemson University, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in Financial Management. It was at Clemson where he cultivated many of the lifelong friendships that remained central to his life, each relationship marked by his genuine warmth and remarkable sense of humor. Eddie dedicated 22 years of his career to Yardi, where he was not only a respected colleague but also a friend to many. His work was characterized by a steadfast commitment to excellence and a camaraderie that uplifted those around him. Yet, it was outside the office where Eddie's passions truly shone. A musician at heart, he was mostly self-taught, mastering the piano, stand-up bass, guitar, and saxophone. His love for music was not just a hobby but a way of life, a gift he shared generously with family and friends. Eddie's greatest pride and joy were his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Dawn Daquano Atkinson, whose partnership was a cornerstone of his happiness. Together, they raised three wonderful children: their daughter Laine, and sons Luke and Will, who were the light of Eddie's life. He was the kind of father who led by example, teaching his children to embrace life's joys, to laugh often, and to love deeply. Eddie is also survived by his loving sisters, Hope Atkinson Byles (Micheal) and Ruth Atkinson Sappenfield (Gary), who will forever cherish the shared memories of growing up together, bound by love and laughter. In his free time, Eddie could often be found basking in the simple joys of the great outdoors, whether playing catch with his kids, hiking through nature's splendor, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of a sunset. His presence was an uplifting force, and his laughter was a melody that brought smiles to the faces of those around him. Eddie Atkinson was a man of rare kindness, humor, and authenticity. His life was a symphony of love, laughter, and music, and though his departure was sudden, the echoes of his joyous spirit will linger in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of Eddie's life will be held in Cheraw, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory with stories, music, and love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity close to Eddie's heart, supporting music education for young learners, ensuring that his love for music continues to inspire future generations. Eddie will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of love, laughter, and song will forever be cherished.
