Mabel J. Berry

June 22, 1942 — October 11, 2026

Mabel J. Berry, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully at home on October 11, 2026, with her devoted family by her side. Born on June 22, 1942, in Grant Town, West Virginia, Mabel was the beloved daughter of Gordon and Gladys Gregory Dennison. Mabel’s life was defined by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. Married to her high school sweetheart, Waldo Berry, on June 2, 1963, in Oakland, Maryland, their union was a testament to enduring love, celebrating 62 years of marriage. Together, they built a nurturing and joyous home for their three children: Jennifer Wolfe (Jon) of Carmichaels, PA; John Berry (Theresa) of Pittsburgh, PA; and Amiee Moon (Paul) of Hayesville, NC. Mabel’s legacy continues to thrive through her seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whom she adored and who brought endless joy to her life. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mabel was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A woman of deep faith, Mabel was an active member of the John Corbly Baptist Church in Garards Fort, PA. Her commitment to community and service was further exemplified by her membership in the Order of the Eastern Star Ideal Chapter No. 213 in Masontown, PA, where she served with distinction as Worthy Matron for the 1985-1986 fraternal year and the many hours that she volunteered for Hospice, Meals on Wheels and Vacation Bible School. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and knit, always working on a project for a family member or church. She worked over the years on genealogy and has an extensive collection tracing ancestral lines across generations. Mabel had a green thumb and was always planting, growing, nurturing her flowers and garden. She loved to spend time with her beloved cat KC, read and bake. The yearly tradition of making her famous Honey Dips will be missed greatly. The front porch was the gathering space where family would visit, kids would play or pass the time birdwatching, which Mabel kept fed and quite happy. Preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister Mary Ann Klara, sisters Gatha Hurley and Carol Cleveland, brother Gary Dennison, and a great-grandson, Gunner Wolfe, Mabel is survived by her sister, Sue Slimmer (Jack) of Meyersville, MD. Her family and friends will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and the indelible mark she left on their hearts. A celebration of Mabel’s life will be held on October 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Lesako Funeral Home, located at 204 Dowlin Ave, Carmichaels, PA 15320. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor the beautiful life she lived and the memories she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Mabel’s spirit of generosity and compassion. They also extend their deepest gratitude to the team from Amedysis and the caregivers for their exceptional compassion, care, and friendship during this journey. Mabel J. Berry will be remembered as a beacon of love and strength, whose legacy will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
