It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Lynwood Evans Marbury, lovingly known as Lyn, who departed this life on July 8, 2026. Born on December 21, 1945, in Birmingham, Alabama, Lyn's life was a tapestry of cherished moments, laughter, and love. Lyn was the beloved son of the late Adaline and Ross Marbury and the treasured brother of the late Francis Ross Marbury. He was a proud graduate of Trussville High School and pursued higher education at Montevallo University. His dedication to service was evident in his time as an Army sergeant, spending three years stationed in Heidelberg, Germany at the Army headquarters. Lyn's professional journey was marked by his passion and entrepreneurship as he owned and operated Advanced Collision Repair for over 30 years until his well-earned retirement four years ago. His career was not just a testament to his hard work and dedication but also to the integrity and commitment he showed to his community. A man of many talents and interests, Lyn found joy in the skies as an avid powered paraglider motorist, sharing the beauty of the mountains with his flying companions. His humor and infectious laughter were hallmarks of his personality, endearing him to countless friends who cherished his company and friendship. Lyn's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Marilyn Bishop Marbury, with whom he had recently celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed exploring the world and relishing the simple pleasures of life, particularly their summers in Monteagle. As members of the MSSA Board of Trustees, Lyn and Marilyn fostered a community that became a second family, sharing countless joyful moments on their beloved porch, Idlehour. Lyn's legacy continues through his cherished children, Michelle Marbury Baumann (Scott) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lyndsay Marbury Cousins (Christopher) of Birmingham, Alabama. His laughter and stories live on in his grandchildren, Julian (Jude) and Bishop Baumann, and Owen and Ever Cousins. He is also survived by his dear sister, Edna Marbury Rathert of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and a host of extended family, including cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold his memory dear. In honor of Lyn's life and his love for Monteagle, the family requests that donations be made to the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, a community that held a special place in his heart. Lynwood Evans Marbury's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. We invite all who were touched by Lyn's warmth and generosity to join us in remembering and celebrating his remarkable life.
