Lynnward Williams, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully departed this life on July 6, 2026, at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. Born on November 4, 1963, in Dale City, Virginia, Lynnward was the beloved son of the late Lynnward H. Williams, Sr. and Dorothy A. Williams. He was also preceded in death by his infant sister, Victoria Ann; his son, Lamarcus Gholston; and his infant granddaughter, Rheign J. Newkirk.
Lynnward's life was one of dedication, resilience, and warmth. He attended Prince William County public schools and built a career in construction and roofing, where his strong work ethic and skillful hands were greatly valued. In his free time, Lynnward found joy in fixing cars, delighting in the hum of an engine brought back to life, and in the thrill of watching WWE Smackdown. These passions reflected his love of working with his hands and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
A man with a kind heart and a warm smile, Lynnward was known for his ability to speak his mind and his infectious sense of humor. His jokes and lighthearted nature could brighten any room, making everyone feel welcome and at ease. His generosity and kindness were constants in his life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Lynnward is survived by two devoted children: Lynnette Pierce (Jonathan) and Ryan Newkirk (Tamara). His legacy continues through his ten beloved grandchildren: Malachi, Anthony, Tre’Miyah, JonQavis, Janiyah, Cassandra, Brody, Riley, Rhylin, and Royal. He is also survived by his three loving sisters: Daleria D. Person (Bryan), Lisa A. Williams-Cook (Johnnie), and Kim M. Campbell (Donato); his nieces Ashlee Abney (Quintin) and Brittany Wolfe (Taj); nephews Aaron Person, Jonathan Williams, and Johnnie Williams-Cook; and great-nieces and nephews Ezekiel, Ariel, Naomi, and Jireh. His memory will also be cherished by his aunts Luella Williams, Marion Williams, and Joyce Ann Kendall; his dedicated cousin and lifelong friend, Calvin Henderson; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
The family will hold a private funeral service to celebrate Lynnward's life on July 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Lynnward's honor.
