Lynne Marie Hemen

It is with profound sadness and tender hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lynne Marie Hemen, a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Lynne left this world on June 19, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of her family. Her journey began on January 23, 1951, in Fergus Falls, MN, where she was born to Philip R. Olson and Evelyn L. (Wartdal) Olson.
Lynne was a beacon of light and kindness, known for her remarkable ability to nurture and inspire everyone around her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her brother, Dan Olson, and is now reunited with them in eternal peace.
In 1969, Lynne graduated from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to education and service. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Dakota State University in Madison, SD, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1972. She took immense pride in her role as an educator, shaping young minds and touching countless lives as a teacher of 3rd and 4th grade in Astoria, SD, and Delmont, SD, and later as a preschool teacher in Hartington, NE, and Omaha, NE,finishing her career as a first grade teacher at Omaha Public Schools.
Lynne'and Terrence "Mike" Hemen, married on September 4, 1971, in Sioux Falls, SD. Their love story was one of unwavering devotion and companionship, spanning over five decades. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories filled with laughter and love.
Lynne is survived by her beloved husband, Mike, her children Michelle L. (Joseph) Patrick and Brent Hemen, and her brothers Ken (Judy) Olson and Glenn (Melissa) Olson. Her legacy lives on in her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the countless lives she touched through the years.
A devoted member of the Christ Community Church, Lynne found joy and fulfillment in her faith and community. She was an active participant in church activities, always offering a helping hand and a compassionate heart. Her love for baking and cooking was legendary. Lynne was also an avid reader, until her eyesight did not allow her to read.
A service celebrating Lynne's life will be held at Christ Community Church, located at 404 S. 108th Ave., Omaha, NE. The family invites all who knew and loved Lynne to join them in remembering her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ Community Church Great Commission Fund, a cause close to Lynne's heart.
As we say goodbye, we remember Lynne Marie Hemen for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel cherished. Her legacy of kindness and grace will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
