Lynn Yarnall O'Malley

Lynn Ellen (O'Malley)Yarnall, was a vibrant spirit who filled every room with joy and every heart with warmth, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on September 7th, 2026, in Edmonds, Washington. She was surrounded by her close family. Born on August 5, 1950, in Seattle, WA, Lynn lived a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering dedication to those she cherished. Lynn was the beloved daughter of Arnold and Ellen Rintamaki, who preceded her in death, along with her husband, Dr. Stephen Yarnall, and her nephew, CPL Steven A. Rintamaki. She is survived by her children, Kimberly O'Malley and Terry O'Malley and her cherished grandchildren, Jaden Regal and Kasey O'Malley, her siblings, Trudy Abdo (Steve) and Myra Rintamaki, and many extended relatives and close friends. Lynn married her high school sweetheart, Michael O'Malley. Later, she married Dr. Stephen Yarnall, with whom she shared a life filled with love and laughter. A 1968 graduate of Ballard High School, Lynn excelled as the captain of the cheer team, channeling her infectious energy into leading others. She carried this passion into her career, teaching aerobics classes at Harbor Square in Edmonds, WA. Lynn worked at Hay's Toy Warehouse on Elliott Avenue in Seattle before moving to Edmonds in 1979. Later she spent over 30 years working at Welfare and Pension in Seattle, eventually retiring with an indelible legacy of dedication and hard work. Lynn was a trailblazer in the world of athletics, beginning with 10k races and progressing to marathons, triathlons, and ultimately, ultra marathons. She was one of the early female pioneers in ultra marathons, achieving remarkable feats such as running the Western States 100.2 miles in the Sierra Nevadas with a personal best of 21:42 hours. Lynn was one of the top 5 female runners in the United States in the prime of her career. Her passion for sports extended to her love for the Washington Huskies, Seattle Supersonics, Seattle Seahawks, and the Mariners, and she cherished the time she spent with her family at these events. Beyond her athletic achievements, Lynn's greatest joy was her family. She dedicated countless afternoons to her grandchildren, exploring parks, enjoying train and bus rides, and creating memories filled with laughter and adventure. Her boundless energy, beautiful smile, and willingness to help others were the hallmarks of her character, and she approached every challenge with positivity and leadership. A service to celebrate Lynn's remarkable life will be held on September 15, 2026. Viewing 2-3 pm and services 3:00 PM at Beck's Tribute Center, at 405 5th Ave S, Edmonds, WA 98020.
