Lynn Slay

November 14, 1969 — September 24, 2026

Lynn Slay, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her family and close friends. Born on November 14, 1969, in Missouri, Lynn spent her formative years in Grass Valley, California, a place she cherished dearly throughout her life. Lynn dedicated 24 years of her professional life to serving Nevada County. She worked with unwavering commitment at both the Nevada County Juvenile Hall and the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. Her dedication and service made a lasting impact on her community, and she was respected and admired by her colleagues. Beyond her career, Lynn embraced the joys of life with enthusiasm and grace. She had a passion for travel, which took her to many places, each journey adding to the tapestry of her life's story. A talented cook and gardener, she found peace and fulfillment in creating meals and nurturing her garden. Lynn was also an avid quilter, delighting in the art of bringing fabric and stories together with each stitch. Lynn’s life was defined not by the challenges she faced but by her courage and resilience. Even as she bravely confronted cancer, she continued to live life on her own terms. Her illness never defined her; instead, she continued to embrace life, love, laughter, and the freedom to make her own choices. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rob Slay; her loving daughter, Allie Wing, and son-in-law, Jon Wing; her cherished grandchildren, Lily, Maverick, and Lincoln; her beloved son, Tyler Moore, and daughter-in-law, Linda Moore; her dear sister, Cynthia Welsh, and brother-in-law, David Welsh; and her treasured nephews, Adam Long and Kyle King. Lynn’s family will forever hold her love, wisdom, and spirit close to their hearts. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness, strength, and joy will live on in the lives of those she touched. A celebration of Lynn’s extraordinary life will take place on October 24, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Auburn.
