Obituary of Lynn Eckes
In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Lynn Eckes, who departed from us on May 12, 2026, at the age of 85. Lynn passed away peacefully at Three Oaks Nursing Home in his beloved hometown of Marshfield, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
Born on January 31, 1941, in Marshfield, Lynn was the cherished son of Jake and Bonnie Eckes. From a young age, he demonstrated a profound passion for music and a natural talent for bringing joy to those around him. His formative years were marked by an unyielding curiosity and a deep love for his family and community.
Lynn's professional journey was as varied as it was impressive. He began his career as a WDLB radio announcer, where his rich voice and charismatic presence endeared him to many listeners. He later transitioned to the burgeoning field of computer technology, where he excelled as a technician. However, it was his extraordinary skill as a jazz pianist that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of hearing him play. Lynn's musical talents allowed him to share stages with legends such as Bob Hope and Steve Allen, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
In October 1961, Lynn married Loretta Bell, with whom he shared the joy of raising three wonderful children. Later, his heart found a perfect companion in Barbara Bedell, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. Lynn's devotion to his family was unwavering, and he was a beacon of love and wisdom to his children, Bryan (Karen) Eckes and Cindy Pongratz.
Lynn was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Vicki Lynne, his parents Jake and Bonnie, and his sister Joan Bruns. Though their absence was deeply felt, Lynn's enduring spirit and love continued to be a guiding force for his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara, his son Bryan and daughter Cindy, and his cherished grandchildren: Emily (Caleb) Lindberg, Aaron, and Alicia. Lynn's legacy also lives on in his four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
The Eckes family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Three Oaks Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support during Lynn's final days. Their kindness and professionalism provided comfort and solace to both Lynn and his family.
As we remember Lynn, let us celebrate a life filled with music, laughter, and love. His gentle spirit, generosity, and zest for life touched all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of joy and inspiration. Lynn's life was a melody that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he loved.
A memorial service to honor Lynn's remarkable life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lynn's memory to a charity of your choice, spreading the love and kindness that he so freely gave.
May Lynn Eckes rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished by those whose lives he touched.
