Lynn E Medlin

October 20, 1948 — December 25, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lynn E Medlin, a devoted husband, cherished family man, and steadfast friend to many. Lynn departed this world on December 25, 2025, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with cancer, stepping into heaven on a day symbolically filled with hope and love. He was surrounded by his beloved family, who cherished him dearly. Born on October 20, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Norma and Earl Medlin, Lynn grew up with a strong sense of family and community. From an early age, he exhibited a passion for music, playing the French Horn in his high school band, and he carried this love of music throughout his life. He graduated high school in 1966, setting the stage for a life devoted to service and faith. Lynn pursued his education at Biola University in La Mirada, California, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Bible in 1970, a reflection of his deep and abiding faith. This spiritual foundation guided him throughout his life, influencing both his personal and professional endeavors. A proud veteran, Lynn served his country with distinction, first as a Marine, earning the rank of Second Lieutenant, and later as a Captain in the Army Reserves. His military journey included earning a certificate in an Airborne Course from the United States Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1970, and completing a special jumpmaster course from the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1971. Lynn's military career was marked by dedication and honor, culminating in his attainment of Captain in the U.S. Army in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1985. Upon retirement, Lynn transitioned to a new chapter, working part-time in the pest control industry and as a security guard. Despite the change in careers, his commitment to service remained unwavering. Alongside his beloved wife, Linda Fay, whom he married on May 23, 2007, in Whittmann, Arizona, Lynn led a meaningful life centered around family, faith, and community. Together, they shared 18 wonderful years, building a life brimming with love and laughter. Lynn was known for his quick wit, warm smile, humility, and a servant's heart. His kindness and generosity touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and compassion. He found joy in simple pleasures—doing puzzles, playing card games, listening to worship music, and helping Linda with gardening. He was a voracious reader of the Bible and Christian literature and amassed one of the largest collections of action movies on DVD. His favorite indulgence was a Diet Dr. Pepper from a soda fountain, which he enjoyed as often as possible. Lynn's greatest joy, however, was spending time with friends and family. As a beloved "Papa Lynn," he cherished his role as a grandfather to six grandchildren: Sarah, Maxon, Lukas, Alice, Marshall, and Henry. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Medlin, his sister Christy Cox (spouse Fred), brother Earl (Bud) Medlin Jr. (spouse Gail), stepdaughters Julie Mohline (husband Richard) and Lisa Fowler (husband Nicholas), all of whom will continue to honor his memory and uphold his values. Lynn was predeceased by his mother, Norma Mauzy; his father, Earl Medlin; his stepmother, Mary Loretta Medlin; and his brother, Dwayne Medlin. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his legacy endures through the lives he touched. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have come to remember and celebrate Lynn. In honor of Lynn's life and legacy, his final wish is for all to come to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to be reunited with him in glory. As we gather to remember Lynn, let us carry forward his spirit of love, kindness, and faith, embodying the principles he held dear throughout his life. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
