Lynda West

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Lynda West on September 26, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on July 2, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to James and Edith Mcalister, Lynda lived a life full of love, warmth, and compassion. Lynda was a beacon of love and support to her family and friends. She was known for her nurturing spirit, often referred to as "everyone's grandma," and she welcomed all with open arms. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she always encouraged and cared deeply for those she met. On August 17, 1978, Lynda married the love of her life, John West, in Jefferson City. Together, they built a beautiful life over 45 years, raising two wonderful children, Chad Fellers and Amber West. Lynda cherished her role as a grandmother to Jessica Jemison, Tara West, and Chris Fellers, and she delighted in the joy of having two great-grandchildren. Lynda was an active and beloved member of her community. Known for her talents in baking and crafting, she frequently contributed to charities and community events, always eager to make a difference through her generous spirit. Her family finds solace in the love and memories she leaves behind, holding close the words, “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” — Lao Tzu In honor of Lynda's giving nature, donations can be made in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization she held dear. A private funeral service will be held on October 10, 2026, where her family will celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many. Lynda will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
