September 20, 1949 — May 7, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lynda Lavon Fountain Carter, who left this world peacefully on May 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and dear friends. Born on September 20, 1949, in Albany, Oregon, Lynda was the cherished daughter of Alfred and Corrine Fountain, who preceded her in death. Her journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a remarkable ability to touch the lives of those around her. Lynda moved to Sacramento, California, in the early 1950s, where she attended Hagginwood Elementary and later graduated as a proud majorette from Norte Del Rio High School. It was in Sacramento that she met and married the love of her life, Willie Carter Jr., blending their families and creating a home filled with affection and warmth. Lynda was a woman of diverse interests and boundless energy. She had a deep love for the outdoors, often spending time riding her beloved horse, Little Man, or enjoying quiet moments fishing with her family. Her passion for cars was evident as she could often be found under the hood, her hands skillfully at work. Lynda's love of music was a soundtrack to her life, spanning genres from country and blues to jazz and Motown, each note resonating with her vibrant spirit. Her home was a haven not only for her family but also for her many dogs, each one a testament to her love for animals. Lynda's friendships were treasures to her, and she cherished each one as family. Known for her wit and warm smile, she had an uncanny ability to lighten any mood and make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of her character, touching countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Lynda is survived by her adoring children: daughters Cheri and Kassondra, her son Jason, and her son-in-law Kenneth. Her legacy continues with her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Czarria, Deja, and Adriana, and her great-grandchildren, Robyn, Annyssa, and Sebestian. She also leaves behind a large extended family, including Nathaniel, Willie (senior), Jimmy, Amber, Aarron, Destiny, James, Terrance, Damien, Brianna, Rhonda, Joyce, Kashicka, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she held close in her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Corrine Fountain; her beloved brother, Larry Fountain; and her dear husband, Willie Carter Jr. She reunites with them and her other loved ones: Floyd Carter (Tiny), Willie Carter 3rd, Sue Carter, and Justin Carter, in eternal peace. A service to celebrate Lynda's remarkable life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Gospel Center, located at 7111 Woodbine Avenue, Sacramento, CA. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory, sharing stories, and keeping her legacy alive in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal shelter or a charity of choice, reflecting Lynda's enduring love for animals and her generous spirit. Lynda Lavon Fountain Carter was a beacon of love, laughter, and light. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
