Lynda Lavon Fountain Carter, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this world on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family and friends. Born on September 20, 1949, in Albany, Oregon, Lynda was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her. Her life was a testament to kindness, love, and the enduring bonds of friendship and family.
Lynda was the cherished daughter of Alfred and Corrine Fountain and the elder sister to her brother, Larry Fountain. Her early years were enriched by the loving companionship of her grandmother, with whom she shared delightful walks and ice cream sodas. In the early 1950s, the Fountain family moved to Sacramento, California, where Lynda would lay down the roots of a remarkable life.
Educated at Hagginwood Elementary, Lynda's vibrant spirit found expression as she became a majorette and graduated with pride from Norte Del Rio High School. It was in Sacramento that Lynda met the love of her life, Willie Carter Jr. Their union was a beautiful blending of families, filled with shared adventures and memories.
Lynda's heart was as vast as her interests. She found solace and joy in the great outdoors, whether riding her cherished horse, Little Man, or sharing peaceful moments fishing with her family. Her hands, adept and skillful, could often be found working on cars, a testament to her love for tangible accomplishments and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Music was the soundtrack to Lynda's life, an eclectic mix that spanned country, blues, jazz, and Motown, reflecting her open-mindedness and appreciation for life's diverse melodies. Her love for animals, especially her many dogs, was profound, and her home was always a sanctuary of warmth and care.
Lynda's personality was a delightful blend of wit and warmth. Her ready smile and quick humor were gifts she shared generously, making those around her feel welcome and valued. Her kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless individuals.
Lynda leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her devoted daughters, Cheri and Kassondra (Sis), her sons, Floyd (Tiny) and Jason, and her brother, Larry Fountain. Her legacy continues through her three adored grandchildren and one precious great-grandchild, who will carry forward her spirit and values.
A celebration of Lynda's life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Gospel Center, located at 7111 Woodbine Avenue, Sacramento, CA. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Lynda are invited to join in honoring her memory, sharing stories of her light, laughter, and love.
