Born on September 20, 1944, in Peguis First Nation, Lynda passed away peacefully at the age of 81, surrounded by the love of her two sisters. Her departure marks the end of an era for her family and friends, but her legacy of unwavering faith, kindness, and compassion continues to shine brightly in our hearts.
Lynda was the beloved daughter of Walter James Spence and Winnifred Spence. She was predeceased by her sister Lila Mae Spence (Nicklan), brother Lawson Spence, her first husband William Harry Stevenson, her second husband Maurice Stevenson, her eldest son Tony Anthony Spence, and her eldest daughter Heather Lynn Stevenson. Despite these profound losses, Lynda's life was filled with love and joy, which she shared abundantly with those around her.
A devoted mother, Lynda leaves behind her cherished children Kimberley Ann Stevenson (Byran Weenusk), Stephanie Winnifred Thompson (Carl Thompson), and Karen Hase (Brent Mckean). Her legacy of love and strength lives on in her nine grandchildren and an impressive 32 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
Lynda's greatest joy was her family, and she found immense pleasure in the simplest moments spent with them. She was a woman of deep faith, and her life was a testament to God’s love, evidenced through her quiet strength, gentle smile, and caring nature. Lynda was known for her culinary skills, delighting friends and family with her infamous cheesecakes, homemade bread, and savory meat stews. She was an avid outdoorswoman, enjoying the serenity of open water while fishing, or the thrill of hunting. Lynda also had a passion for the small joys in life, such as visiting yard sales, shopping, watching birds at her feeders, and solving crossword puzzles.
Lynda's life was a beacon of kindness and forgiveness. Her compassionate spirit and ability to inspire those around her will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. Her legacy is one of enduring love and faith, and she leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
Lynda Janet Stevenson will be dearly missed, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched with her grace and love. May she rest in eternal peace.
