Lynda harris
March 21, 1951 — July 5, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Lynda Harris, who peacefully departed from this world on July 5, 2026, after bravely battling an illness. Born in Rochester, NY, on March 21, 1951, Lynda lived a vibrant and full life that touched the hearts of everyone around her.
Lynda was the cherished daughter of Dorothy and Andrew Daul. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gary Mark Harris, who she married in 1973. Together, they raised three beautiful children and shared a life filled with love until his passing in 1995. Lynda later found companionship and joy with Fred Daniels, whom she married in 2017.
A woman of many talents, Lynda worked as a site show performer at carnivals, bringing joy and wonder to countless faces. Her compassionate spirit led her to a career as a home health aide, where she extended her warmth and care to those in need. Above all, she was a dedicated and nurturing mother, a full-time role she cherished deeply.
Lynda's life was one of joy and adventure. She loved attending state fairs, exploring markets, and cherishing family cookouts. Her collection of gnomes delighted her, and her fondness for wolves was well known. Dining out and spending time with her loved ones brought her immense happiness.
Her personality was as vivid as her interests. Lynda was fiercely loving and caring, especially towards her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her stubborn streak and independence were well-known traits, often accompanied by her charming insistence on having the last word and the last laugh. Her beautiful smile and soul left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to receive one of her warm hugs.
Lynda's legacy is carried on by her surviving family members: her son Gary and daughter Wanetta Lynn Harris-Cannioto, daughter Randi May Harris and her husband Fred Daniels, grandchildren Jose Harris, Julie Cannioto, Josie Cannioto, Ashlyn Cannioto-Statt, and her many beloved great-grandchildren.
The family invites all who knew and loved Lynda to join them in celebrating her life at a service to be held on July 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Metropolitan Funeral Chapel, located at 109 West Ave., Rochester, NY 14611.
In honor of Lynda's memory, donations in her name can be made to a charity close to your heart or to an organization supporting families and children, causes she held dear.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the hospital and the funeral home, as well as to everyone who has sent their prayers and best wishes during this time of grief. Lynda will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
