In Loving Memory of Luz N. Lopez June 19, 1957 – May 25, 2026 With heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Luz N. Lopez on May 25, 2026. Born in the sun-kissed town of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico on June 19, 1957, Luz was a beacon of warmth and love to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey came to a peaceful close, surrounded by her beloved family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her resilience and spirit were unyielding, a testament to her warrior heart. Luz was the cherished daughter of the late Hortencia Torres Morales and Jose Santiago, who preceded her in eternal rest, along with her beloved son, Ruben Lopez Jr. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through her devoted husband of 50 years, Ruben Lopez, whom she married in November 1975 in New York City. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. She is survived by her loving children, Daisy DiRisio and Daniel Lopez; her dear son-in-law, Robert A. DiRisio; and her treasured grandchildren, Robert P. DiRisio, Casey R. DiRisio, Adriana A. DiRisio, Karina Lopez, Karla Lopez, and Faith Marie Soto, who will forever hold her in their hearts. Luz's professional journey began with a degree from cosmetology school, but her true calling was in nurturing young lives as a licensed daycare provider, a role she embraced for over 40 years. Her home was a haven for children, where her boundless love and infectious joy left a lasting impact on countless young hearts. A devout Catholic, Luz was an active and cherished member of her church communities, first at St. Rita's in Queens, NY, and later at St. Isaac Joques in Orlando, FL. Her faith was unwavering, and she found great solace in prayer, serving as a Eucharistic minister and participating in prayer groups. Each evening, she faithfully recited the rosary, her devotion to Jesus guiding her every step. Luz's heart bloomed in her garden, much like the vibrant flowers she so lovingly tended. She found peace among her plants and joy in sharing their beauty with others, often posting pictures on Facebook for all to admire. Her love of reading, particularly religious texts and the Bible, enriched her spirit and deepened her understanding of faith. Known for her nurturing spirit, Luz was a natural caretaker and a counselor to many. Her home was always open, her phone always available for anyone in need of a kind word or a listening ear. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she delighted in giving gifts and spreading joy wherever she went. A service to celebrate Luz's beautiful life will be held on May 29, 2026, at St. Isaac Joques. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory and the indelible mark she left on our world. Luz N. Lopez's legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith. In our hearts, she will forever remain, as we carry forward her spirit of generosity and unwavering love for others.
