Luis Borrero, a man of unwavering dedication and a heart full of love, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, after a short illness. Born on October 29, 1953, in the vibrant city of New York, Luis was the cherished son of María Vega and Luis Borrero Sr., both of whom preceded him in death.
Luis is survived by his 2 sisters, Migdalia Clemente and her husband Dr Pablo Clemente,
Nephew Pablo Luis Clemente.
And sister Marisel Borrero, uncle Moddy and aunt Hilda
Luis was a man who lived his life with commitment, honor, and a deep sense of duty. Right after high school, he joined the ROTC, a decision that set the course for a distinguished career. He achieved his dream of becoming a mechanical engineer and later joined the United States Air Force, where he served his country with distinction for 20 plus years . Luis retired as an Air Force Major, a testament to his leadership and dedication.
In addition to his remarkable career in the Air Force, Luis found a second calling in his professional life. After retiring from military service, he, along with his beloved wife Dilia, moved to Austin. He joined J&J Maitenance as Director of Operations.before continuing his career at Notre Dame University and later at City of San Antonio Antonio and UTSA until May 2023.
For nearly 38 years, Luis shared an extraordinary life with his loving wife, Dilia. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with incredible adventures and enduring friendships. Together, they built a life that was rich in love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Luis was a man of many passions. He was an avid golfer, a skilled hunter, and a dedicated fisherman. These hobbies brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with nature and with friends who shared his interests.
Known for his strength of character, Luis was a man who inspired those around him. His kindness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to doing what was right were qualities that endeared him to family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Luis's life will be honored in a private ceremony, as was his wish. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, in honor of Luis's generous spirit and his lifelong commitment to helping others.
In remembering Luis Borrero, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of service, and a love that will endure in the hearts of those he touched.
