It is with profound sadness and gentle gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Lue Houston on February 19, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on October 5, 1943, in the embrace of Suffolk, Virginia, Lue was the cherished daughter of Malachi and Bessie Council. Her journey through life was marked by love, joy, and an unwavering smile that touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Lue's early years were spent in the warm, nurturing environment of her family home. She carried the values instilled in her by her parents throughout her life, spreading kindness and warmth wherever she went. After completing her education at Jamaica High School, Lue embarked on a fulfilling career spanning 15 years as a Gate Agent with Pan Am Airline JFK Hub ret DELTA AIRLINES. Her role at the airline fueled her love for travel, allowing her to explore the world and enrich her life with diverse cultures and experiences. Her passion for travel was only rivaled by her love for bingo and dancing. Lue had an infectious spirit that drew people into her orbit, making every dance floor come alive with her grace and energy. Her laughter was a melody of comfort and joy, a testament to her ever-present smile that could brighten the darkest of days. On October 2, 1965, Lue married the love of her life, James W. Houston. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, nurturing a family that has grown to include 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Lue's legacy of love and joy lives on in them, a testament to the strong and loving family she and James created. Lue is survived by her devoted and loving family: Sylvia Marcano (Cirillo), Casimiro Yulfo (Veshay), Desmond Houston, and her beloved husband, James W. Houston. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating life's milestones and everyday joys with equal fervor. A service honoring Lue's life will be held at Anthony Watkins Funeral Home, located at 163 North Ave, Jonesboro, GA 30236. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Westbury Nursing Home for the compassionate care and support they provided during Lue's final days. As we gather to celebrate Lue's life, we remember her as a beacon of happiness and love. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us and reminding us of the beauty in every moment. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in remembering Lue, a woman whose smile could light up a room and whose love knew no bounds. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lue's honor to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and love for others. Lue Houston's life was a dance of love, laughter, and joy—a dance that will continue in the hearts of all who knew her.
