In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Lucy Birge, who peacefully departed this world on April 30, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 5, 1940, in the serene town of Cave City, Kentucky, Lucy was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and resilience. Her journey through life was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Lucy was the beloved daughter of Wilbur Dale and Junie Mae (Garner) Williams, who instilled in her the values of compassion and integrity that she carried throughout her life. On July 6, 1957, she married her soulmate, Horace Birge, and together they built a life rich in love and filled with cherished memories. Horace predeceased her, along with their son, Gregory Evan’s Birge, and son-in-law, Michael Milburn, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. Lucy’s heart was a boundless source of joy, always welcoming and nurturing her family. She is survived by her devoted children: Clara G. BirgeMilburn, Sandra G. Birge, Greta L. Vacha (Joe), Grant A. Birge (Tracy Millikan), and Shannon J. Haynes (Tim). Her life was further blessed with nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each one a testament to her enduring legacy. Lucy’s heart overflowed with happiness as she spent time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Nicole, Anthony, Garrett, Mason, Kinlie Lou, Paige, and Otis, as well as her "4 littles," Joey, Kenzie, Timmy Tim, and Aliza. Throughout her life, Lucy was surrounded by love and support, and the family extends their deepest gratitude to her "earth angels," Martha and Kit Wedemeyer, whose care and compassion brought comfort in her final days. Lucy’s legacy is one of love, grace, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she encountered. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she loved. A service to honor Lucy’s extraordinary life will be held, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her memory and the lasting impact she made on this world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lucy’s name to a charity close to her heart, ensuring that her legacy of kindness and generosity continues to shine. As we say goodbye to our beloved Lucy, we find solace in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved and missed dearly. May her journey be peaceful, and may her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her.
