Lucy Baeza
January 8, 1942 — June 9, 2026
Lucy Baeza, a beacon of love and warmth, peacefully departed this world on June 9, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on January 8, 1942, in Presidio County, Texas, Lucy was the cherished daughter of Gregorio and Epitacia Alejo. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and faith.
Lucy shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, Paul Baeza, whom she married on November 27, 1968. Together, they raised two devoted sons, Joe and Jairo, embodying a strong partnership built on mutual love and a shared devotion to their faith. Lucy and Paul were inseparable, their love a guiding light that inspired all who knew them. Although Paul and their son Jairo predeceased her, Lucy's spirit remained unyielding, fortified by the love of her surviving son Joe, her 10 adoring grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
A lifelong learner, Lucy embraced every opportunity to enrich her understanding of the world. Her curiosity led her to explore new interests, from traveling and cooking to sewing and even learning to speak and read Hebrew in her later years. Her church community held a special place in her heart, and she rose with the sun each day, offering prayers for everyone she knew. Her devotion to her faith was as steady as her gentle, caring nature.
Lucy found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in caring for her beloved birds. She and Paul delighted in teaching them to dance and sing, treating them with the same affection and love they bestowed upon their family. Her home was filled with the sweet sounds of music and laughter, a testament to her vibrant spirit.
Possessing an honest and direct nature, Lucy was known for her motivation and determination. Her calm demeanor was coupled with an unyielding resolve; if Lucy set her mind to something, nothing could deter her. Her sweet nature and infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out with prayers, phone calls, text messages, and offers of help. The outpouring of love and support during this difficult time has been a source of great comfort.
