It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Lucinda Marshall Dowdell, who departed this world peacefully on May 5, 2026. Born on February 9, 1955, in Indianapolis, Lucinda was a guiding light in our lives, whose warmth and elegance touched everyone she met.
Lucinda was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Marshall and Minnie Lee Marshall. Her early years were marked by a deep-seated sense of family and community, values she carried with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved son Robert Anthony Crider, and her siblings, Michael Greer and Earnestine Fulton, who she spoke of often and held dearly in her heart.
In 1990, on Valentine's Day, Lucinda married the love of her life, Joe Dowdell. Their enduring love was a testament to their deep connection and unwavering commitment to one another. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising two wonderful daughters, Christina Covington and Sara Miller, who were her pride and joy.
Lucinda was a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren: Adira Crider, Azairius Davis, Aria Crider, Aiden Crider, and Derek Russell Jr. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight, and she spent countless hours with them, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Her home was often filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, a testament to her love of gathering family around the table. Lucinda also had a passion for shopping, which she often used as an opportunity to spoil her loved ones.
A woman of grace and kindness, Lucinda was known for her classy demeanor and her unwavering dedication to helping those around her. Her family and friends knew they could always count on her for support, advice, and a compassionate ear. She was a proud member of the New Life Christian Church in Indianapolis, where her faith was both a source of strength and a guiding force in her life.
Lucinda leaves behind her devoted husband Joe, her daughters Christina and Sara, and her grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Alma Bewaji and Roberta Rowley, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A service to celebrate Lucinda's beautiful life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brown Funeral Home, as well as to all the friends and family who have offered their love and support during this difficult time.
Lucinda's legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her light will continue to shine brightly through her family and the countless lives she touched. Rest in peace, dear Lucinda. You will be forever loved and missed.
