Lucille Edna Midkiff Jordan

April 8, 1930 — August 16, 2026

Lucille Edna Midkiff Jordan, a beloved mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter's home on August 16, 2026. Born on April 8, 1930, in Bloomingrose, West Virginia, Lucille lived a life rich with love, learning, and service to others. Lucille was the cherished daughter of the late James and Edna Midkiff. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Susan Vealey and Alberta Midkiff, her brothers George and Harold Midkiff, her husband John "Obble" Jordan, her son Larry Jordan, and her great-granddaughter Willa Lucille Adkins. Despite these losses, Lucille's heart remained full, as she was surrounded by a loving family. She is survived by her devoted children Johnny Jordan and Mariam Jordan, Nioka Michelle Halstead, and Hershell Halstead. Her grandchildren, Larry Jordan, Teddi (William) Adkins, Torri (Cierra) Slentz, Bradley Jordan, Blake Jordan, Tracie (Brian) Larson, Logan Jordan, Lee Jordan, David (Madelyn) Jordan, and Buddy, along with many great-grandchildren and her dear nephew Jim Henderson, will carry her memory forward. In 1948, Lucille graduated from Sherman High School, and her passion for education led her to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Morris Harvey College in 1961. Her thirst for knowledge did not stop there, as she achieved two Master's Degrees from Marshall University in 1977, specializing in Counseling and Education. As a dedicated educator in Boone County, Lucille left an indelible mark on her students and colleagues, who fondly remembered her as "Mrs. Jordan." Even after her retirement, she continued to inspire others by assisting those pursuing their GEDs. Lucille married the love of her life, John "Obble" Jordan, on August 31st. Together, they raised three children and opened their hearts and home to many more. Their union was a testament to the power of family, faith, and friendship. A devoted member of the Brushton United Methodist Church, Lucille's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She also found joy in her involvement with the Boone County Genealogy Society, where she delighted in sharing her knowledge of local history. Lucille's gentleness extended to her leisure activities; she found peace in watching birds and tending to her vibrant flower garden. Her warmth and kindness endeared her to all who knew her, and she was a treasured member of her community. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Lucille's daughter, Michelle Halstead, granddaughters Torri and Cierra Slentz, and HospiceCare, for their unwavering dedication and care during Lucille's final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in Lucille's memory. Her legacy of love, compassion, and education will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
