Lucille B

August 12, 1930 — April 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Lucille B, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on April 1, 2026, at the age of 95. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Her remarkable life began on August 12, 1930, in Mound Township, IL, a place she always held dear. Lucille was the cherished daughter of Martin and Edna, who instilled in her a sense of humor and a zest for life that she carried throughout her days. She was a proud graduate of Altamont High School, class of 1950, where she formed lifelong friendships and discovered her passion for genealogy and historical research. On November 1, 1955, she married the love of her life, Harry, with whom she shared a vibrant and adventurous journey until his passing. Together, they built a family filled with laughter and love, raising three wonderful daughters: Deb, Diane, and Karen. Her girls were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in watching them grow into compassionate and caring women. Lucille was a devoted member of the Altamont Lutheran Church, where she was actively involved in the Ladies Aid and the Threshing Association. Her contributions to these groups were marked by her spirited nature and unwavering dedication. Her laughter was infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to find humor in the slightest things. Her vigorous clapping and enthusiastic foot stomping became a hallmark of her personality, bringing joy to all those around her. While Lucille was unapologetically herself, she had her quirks. She was a self-proclaimed hoarder, cherishing every item she collected over the years. Despite her reluctance to welcome guests into her home and her aversion to cooking and baking, Lucille was blessed with three daughters who lovingly took on the tasks she preferred to avoid. Her stubborn refusal to downsize her possessions was a testament to her tenacious spirit. Lucille was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry, her parents Martin and Edna, and her in-laws Ed and Ronnie. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters, Deb, Diane, and Karen, her sisters Jeanette and Irene, as well as her cherished four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward. In honoring Lucille's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local nursing home, a cause close to Lucille's heart. As we bid farewell to Lucille, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and cherished memories. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Lucille, knowing that you have left an indelible mark on this world and on the hearts of those you leave behind.
