In Loving Memory

Lucile Nailor
June 25, 1952 — May 20, 2026
It is with profound sadness and yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Evangelist Lucile S. Nailor, who left this world on May 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on June 25, 1952, in Dundee, Mississippi, Lucile was a beacon of light and love whose legacy will endure in the hearts of everyone who had the great fortune to know her.
Lucile was the cherished daughter of the late Ervin and Lucille Sample. She was predeceased by her loving parents, but their values and spirit lived on through her every action and word. Lucile was a devoted wife to Oliver Henry Nailor, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and family. Together, they moved to Memphis, TN, where they built a life grounded in faith, love, and mutual respect.
As a mother, Lucile was unparalleled. She was the proud mother of four children: her daughters, Shoronda Johnson and Tina Nailor, and her sons, Henry Sample and Terrence Nailor. Each of them carries forward her strength, kindness, and compassion. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Recie S. Tate, who was her lifelong confidante and friend.
Lucile's family extended far beyond her immediate kin. She was a nurturing presence to her eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, her nephew Derrick Sanders, and her great-niece Taylor Sample, whom she lovingly raised. Her home was a sanctuary, open to a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends — all of whom she embraced with her unconditional love.
A graduate of Rosa Ford High School, Lucile's first passion was her dedication to her church and community. As a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, she served not only as an evangelist but as a guiding light to many. Her career at St. Francis Hospital as a head cook was a testament to her love for culinary arts, and even after retirement, she continued to share her gifts as a volunteer and nanny.
Lucile's hobbies and interests reflected her desire to care for others. She was a talented cook, an adept seamstress, and a helping hand in all church activities. Her meals were legendary, with many requesting her expertise for their special occasions. Her innate ability to make everyone feel at home and valued was truly remarkable.
She possessed a rare quality of illuminating any room with her presence. Her unwavering faith and gratitude for life, even in the face of adversity, were a source of inspiration to all. Lucile was not just a mother to her own children but to all who needed her warmth and wisdom. Her laughter and joy will remain in our hearts forever.
A service to celebrate the life of Evangelist Lucile S. Nailor will be held on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Superior Funeral Home, located at 460 East McLemore in Memphis, TN. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Superior Funeral Home for their compassion, support, and assistance during this time.
In this time of mourning, we find solace in the love Lucile left behind and the countless lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace and her legacy continue to inspire us all.
