Lucia Collins

April 22, 1957 — October 7, 2026

Lucia Collins, lovingly known as "Lucy," passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026 at the Civita Care Northbridge nursing home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was born on April 22, 1957, in Camuy, Puerto Rico, to the late Juan and Ramona Hernandez. As a young child, she moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she was raised and spent her formative years. She attended East Side Middle School during her adolescent years and went on to graduate from Harding High School with the Class of 1977. Committed to further educating herself, Lucy attended Housatonic Community College, where she proudly graduated and earned her degree in Phlebotomy in 1992. Lucy is deeply remembered by all who knew her for her profound generosity and her boundless eagerness to help others. She loved to be around people and loved to laugh. You would always see her smiling. Throughout her life, Lucy found joy in many creative pursuits. She had a deep appreciation for collecting antique dolls and rare jewelry, and she found great pleasure in almost all forms of art, including music, dancing, and drawing. She also possessed a beautiful gift for preparing foods that brought people together. A real natural in the kitchen, everyone's favorite dishes included her signature Spanish yellow rice and gandules, not to mention her delicious bacalao dishes. Above everything else, Lucy’s greatest love was serving Jehovah and sharing his word with others. She dedicated her life and was baptized on September 19, 2015. She also served faithfully as a regular pioneer for a short time until her declining health caused her to step down. Though her physical health continued to gradually decline, she never allowed it to stop her from speaking passionately about her love of Jehovah. She was predeceased by her beloved son, David R. Collins Jr., and her siblings, Nayda Luz Pagan, Carmen Hernandez, and William Hernandez. Lucy leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Yesenia Collins Boyd; her grandchildren, Jermaine, Cheyenne, Jeremiah, Desmond, and Gianna; and her siblings, Peter Lopez, Juan Hernandez, Angel Hernandez, Maria Hernandez, and Yvette Gonzalez. She also leaves her dear uncle, Ramon Rosado, who was more like a sibling to her, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucy will also be deeply missed and mourned by her beloved spiritual family of brothers and sisters. Together, we long for the day when we will be reunited with her in God's new world.

Revelation 21:1-4

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. I also saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. ' The former things have passed away."
