With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lucas Ray, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world on July 14, 2026, at the age of 67. Lucas departed peacefully at a retirement home following an illness, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on October 10, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland, Lucas was the cherished son of the late Ronald and Veronica Ray. Lucas was a man who embodied kindness, joy, and an unwavering love for those around him. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lenora Ray, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since 2000, as well as his parents and his brothers, Jack and Damon Ray. His legacy lives on through his devoted son, Lucas Ray Jr., his cherished daughter, Torey Ray, and his son-in-law, Jerome. Lucas also leaves behind five grandchildren—Terrell, Zoey, Jaylin, Brandon, and Kenneth—and two great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his later years. His extended family, including uncles, nephews, nieces, and numerous friends, will remember him with deep affection. A graduate of Walbrook High School, Lucas dedicated 30 years of his life to working as a steelworker, where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impact. Following his retirement, he found joy in mentoring young adults, sharing his wisdom and kindness to inspire future generations. As a proud member of the Empowerment Temple Church, Lucas played an active role in the Youth People Department, where he mentored many with his caring nature. Lucas was a man of many passions. He found great pleasure in visiting casinos, savoring the thrill and camaraderie they offered. His love for football and basketball was contagious, and he relished the opportunity to share games with friends and family. A music enthusiast, Lucas's home was always filled with melodies that reflected his joyful spirit. He was also renowned for his culinary skills, often cooking up meals that brought people together. Lucas will be remembered for his down-to-earth demeanor and his heartfelt generosity. He touched countless lives with his compassion and unwavering support, leaving a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lucas's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his tradition of giving and helping others. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
