Lucas "Luke" Ewing Stutzman

Lucas "Luke" Ewing Stutzman, a man of great strength and quiet grace, passed away on September 6, 2025, after a courageous and unrelenting battle with a rare cancer. Born on June 23, 1971, in Fremont, Nebraska, Luke's life was a testament to resilience, love, and passion. Luke was the beloved son of John (Sandy) Stutzman and Claudia Stutzman. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Julie Stutzman, as well as his paternal grandparents, Glen and Kay Stutzman, maternal grandparents, Glenn and Lorraine Homen, and several beloved aunts and uncles. Luke is survived by his devoted spouse, Beth Riha, his sons Trey Stutzman and stepson Oliver Gramenz, and his brothers Chad (Jennifer) Stutzman, Shawn (Heather) Stutzman, and Chance Stutzman. Luke's journey began at Fontenelle High School, where he graduated in 1989. His remarkable talents extended to both art and music, leading him to pursue art studies at Marryville College. However, his career path took a different direction, and for the last 30 years, he dedicated himself to a successful finance career with Wells Fargo. Luke's steadfast commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for axe building, woodworking, trail building, weight lifting, and gun slinging. In addition to his professional life, Luke served honorably as a Motor Transport Operator in the US Army from 1999 to 2006. His service to his country was a source of immense pride. Luke's stoic nature was well-known to those who loved him. He was a man who spoke only when necessary, preferring the tranquility of his country home and the embrace of nature. His stubbornness was legendary, but so was the depth of his love for his family and friends. In 2001, Luke married Julie, with whom he shared a bond of love until her passing in 2009. In 2018, he found love once more with Beth, becoming engaged in December of 2019. Together, they built a life filled with shared love and family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and hospice professionals who became their support network over the last two years. Special thanks are extended to Luke's friends and family, whose presence and support were invaluable during this difficult time. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
