Luann Russell Thomas

July 26, 1954 — April 7, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Luann Russell Thomas, who departed this world on April 7, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by the love and comfort of her home. Born on July 26, 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Luann lived a life filled with grace, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Luann was the cherished daughter of the late Fredrick and Lutelle Russell, who instilled in her the values of kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity—qualities she embodied throughout her entire life. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Richard E. "Dickie" Thomas, with whom she shared over 39 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rich in love and shared memories. A proud alumna of South Point High School, Luann graduated in 1972 and went on to dedicate over 25 years of her career as an Administrative Assistant at Wachovia Bank. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of professionalism and warmth, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Luann was a steadfast member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Holly, where for 39 years she actively participated in children's church, touching the lives of countless young souls with her nurturing spirit and unwavering faith. Her contributions to the church community were numerous and deeply valued, and her absence will be felt by many. Beyond her professional and community endeavors, Luann was a woman of many interests. She had a passion for art and found solace and joy in reading. Her creative spirit and love for literature provided her with endless inspiration and were a testament to her ever-curious mind. Luann is survived by her loving husband, Dickie; her brother, John Russell, and his wife, Libby; her nephew, Jeremy Russell, and his wife, Deedie; and her great nephew and niece, Solomon and Ava. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. A service to honor and celebrate Luann's life will be held on April 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Mount Holly. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Luann are invited to join in remembrance of a truly remarkable woman who lived with love and grace. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the legacy of compassion and kindness that Luann leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Luann's memory, to continue her spirit of giving and love. Luann Russell Thomas will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
