Mary “Mimi” Lyon

Mary “Mimi” Lyon, a beloved mother, partner, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in the comforting embrace of Horizon’s Inpatient Hospice Care at St. Mary’s Ozaukee. Born on February 15, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mimi was the cherished daughter of Richard and Corrine Lyon. Mimi was a spirited soul, remembered for her boundless generosity, her zest for life, and her candid nature. She graduated from Nicolet High School, and her career was dedicated to caring for others. As a Phlebotomist and later a Dialysis Technician at Davina Glendale, she touched many lives with her kindness and dedication until her health no longer allowed her to work. Family was the cornerstone of Mimi's life. Though she faced the heartbreak of losing her firstborn, Melissa, she found strength and joy in her children, Jeffrey and Amy Uebelacker, and her treasured grandchildren, Abriana, Caleb, Tommy, Serenity, and Adonis. Her siblings, Kathy (Gary) Buttrum, Rick Lyon, Bob Lyon, Donald Lyon, Jackie (Joe) Manning, and Laurie (Mark) Schears, were her steadfast pillars of support throughout her life's journey. Mimi's life was one of love and laughter. After ending her marriage to Thomas Uebelacker, she found true happiness with her partner, Raymond “Butch” Rydz, whom she met on a serendipitous blind date set up by her coworkers. Together, they shared countless adventures, from their famous “Idle Hours” riverboat rides to sunny travels in Door County, Florida, and Missouri. Mimi's love for the sun was only rivaled by her passion for gardening—her yard was her sanctuary, meticulously cared for, with no weed escaping her watchful eye. At her residence at Charter Senior Living, Mimi's warmth and vibrant spirit forged bonds with friends she considered family. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her favorite Long Island iced teas or a classic 7&7. Preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Thomas Uebelacker, her sister-in-law Susan Lyon, her niece Jennifer Buttrum, and her great-niece Rebecca “Becky” Buttrum, Mimi's legacy of love and strength continues through the lives of those she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Mimi's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and care for others. Mimi's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
